Venous Insufficiency is Treatable!
06 January 2022One of the causes of erectile dysfunction is venous insufficiency. Briefly, venous insufficiency is the failure of the valves in the penile veins to function properly, resulting in the inability to maintain penile rigidity. Venous insufficiency, where accurate diagnosis is of great importance, can be treated with "venous leak surgery".
BLOOD IN THE PENIS LEAKS BACK INTO THE BODY!
To elaborate further, one of the points we suspect in men experiencing erectile dysfunction is venous insufficiency (often called venous leak). If an erection occurs before sexual intercourse but rigidity is lost before the intercourse ends, you may be experiencing venous insufficiency.
The reason for the loss of rigidity is the disruption of the valve structure of the veins in the penis and the blood leaking back into the body. Venous insufficiency, which is a vascular health problem and is among the organic causes of erectile dysfunction, can be treated with surgery.
DO NOT START THE WRONG TREATMENT!
For the diagnosis of patients suspected of having venous insufficiency, we utilize Penile Color Doppler Ultrasonography performed by radiologists. Thanks to this method, since we can have information about the entire vascular structure of the penis and blood flow in real-time, we can take action for the right treatment.
Let me make a small reminder here; some patients with venous insufficiency problems can be misled by treatment plans initiated without benefiting from these imaging techniques. Sometimes methods such as drug treatments and shockwave therapy (ESWT) are resorted to, but if a venous insufficiency problem exists, these treatments alone will not restore your health!
THE ONLY WAY IS 'VENOUS LEAK SURGERY'!
Let's get to the treatment... With venous leak surgery, the vein or veins where the leak is located are closed (ligated), and other veins with intact valves are activated for healthy blood flow. In this way, the blood flow necessary for erection is provided, blood can be trapped within the tubes (corpora cavernosa), and the erectile dysfunction is treated.
What is important here is that the patient should regulate his life without becoming complacent. Because if bad lifestyle habits are not abandoned, excess weight is not lost, smoking continues, and other systemic diseases are not kept under control, damage may occur in healthy vein structures as well, and this may cause venous insufficiency to reoccur. Individuals who improve their general health along with the operation and get rid of their bad habits will open the door to a healthy sexual life for a lifetime.
